In short, at MAPFRE we are people who take care of people. History Our history begins in 1933. We were born with the name of Mutualidad de Seguros de la Agrupación de Propietarios de Fincas Rústicas de España and with the desire to insure workers on agricultural holdings. Later, from the 1950s on, our activity extended to other insurance areas such as life, accidents or transport. The 70s brought us many joys. We became an insurance group and traveled for the first time outside of Spain, to Latin America, there we established ourselves and, at present, we are the largest insurance multinational in the region. In 1975 we promoted Fundación MAPFRE, a non-profit organization in which we wanted to materialize our commitment to contribute to improving people's quality of life and social progress. The Fundación MAPFRE project is specified in: Improve road safety, prevention and health. Improvement of the quality of life of people. Spread culture, arts and letters. Promote knowledge, culture of insurance and social security. Improve the economic, social and cultural conditions of people and the least favored sectors of society. More than 300 projects in 2019 from which more than 9 million people have benefited around the world. During the 1980s, we expanded our business by creating new units and services, such as MAPFRE RE. Throughout the 90s and 2000s, we increased our presence in Latin America, we entered the Asian market and we began to be part of the IBEX35. In 2006, we were incorporated as a public limited company and achieved our financial independence when Fundación MAFPRE became the main shareholder. In 2019 we approved the 2019-2021 Strategic Plan: Transforming ourselves to grow and improve profitability. With it, we propose to continue transforming ourselves through digitization and innovation to advance and improve our purposes. In the same year, we also prepared the new 2019-2021 Sustainability Plan, focused on environmental, social and governance commitments, and we assumed the challenges of the UN 2030 Agenda to meet the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We have come a long way that has given us experience and energy to face the next stages. At MAPFRE we are prepared.
